I live in urban Honolulu, in a beautiful valley, in a quiet neighborhood.
The dog started barking like nuts so I knew someone was around. I heard a soft 'hello?" from outside. Holding the dog's collar, I walked out to the front door, and there was a young local woman in her early 20's. Two others kept walking. Clipboards and Mazie for Senate Tshirts told me right away what they were here for.
"Hi, good morning. We were wondering if you were planning to vote in the upcoming election?"
Absolutely.
"Will you be supporting Mazie Hirono for Senate?"
Absolutely!
"And Colleen Hanabusa?"
Sure.
Big smiles, lots of aloha.
No, thanks, they said, to a drink of water, or an umbrella. (It rains back here.)
We understand that a vote for Linda Lingle is a vote against President Obama, and against womens' rights.
Thanks for volunteering ladies! Imua kakou!

If I had read your post before he was here I just might have asked him
Anyway, he said that so far on my side of the street mine was the sixth house that the votes are going to Obama and the Democrats !!!
I was happy to hear that because I was pretty sure that many of my neighbors were Obama supporters but he confirmed it.

(946 posts)The guy came to the door wearing the campaign shirt of my state representative. While I was talking to him my 5 year old daughter walks up beside me... wearing the same shirt.
He looked down and smiled. Priceless.
