Last night I finally sat down to read George Wallace To Newt Gingrich: Race In the Conservative

Counterrevolution 1963-1994. It had been sitting in my shelf for awhile and I finally got around to reading it. I may be exaggerating but after looking at these photos today. I started thinking that this kind of image will have more resonance in the upcoming election than one might think. The look on the big dude who picked up the President seems very genuine and warm. No it's not going to get MS or AL voting for a black Democratic candidate any time soon. But even an eternally pessimistic cynic can find some comfort in the little things such as this. And this man is or was supposedly a Republican. Which to me is even more remarkable.
