We always buy one package ahead of what we need so we are okay for a week.

(869 posts)if you have a water source, you can just wash your ass. It's not like showers are going to stop working.

(115,836 posts)There's no threat to the water supply. Why are people going nuts buying water and TP?

(32,088 posts)It's sad how dependent many have become on disposable paper products. Did it never occur to people to just get some damp cloths and run them through the laundry after use, should they run out of TP?

(32,088 posts)Use damp washcloths or other cloths, and launder them. It's a good way to repurpose old clothing that you were planning to throw out. Keep a covered pail in the bathroom, and dump it in the washer when it gets full. This "toilet paper substitutes" thing is starting to get fucking ridiculous.

A permanent alternative is add a kitchen sprayer by your toilet.

(25,183 posts)between TP and all other kinds of paper. I found this out when my lady dared me to research the facial tissues that I was tossing in the toilet.
TP is designed to break down rapidly in water. Facial tissues are not. I would suppose that would also be the case with newspaper, Sears catalogs, and especially coffee filters that are designed to stand up to very hot water.
If you want sewer or septic problems now, when it could be dicey to get a service truck, then keep using things that were not designed as toilet paper for that very use.
