Shut everything down for 3 to 4 week and send every adult American a check for $3000.00

That would do more to slow the virus spread and save the economy at the same time.

Next, get the fucking test kits out there now. Finally, start setting up regional sites for taking care of the sick.

I've been having to buy things online (at inflated prices no doubt!).

This is difficult when trying to get by on the $900 a month I receive from SSDI.

I've spent a few hundred $ in the past couple of weeks, that I normally would have never spent.

I'm getting short on food and will be out by next week and I am afraid to go to the store.

So, yes, $3K would really help a lot right now!

Thanks for posting this.

The point is people who don't get sick leave have no other source of income. So they may work even when their sick making it easier to spread the virus and even if they chose not to work when sick. Grocery stores would not have the manpower to accommodate delivering on a national scale.

The idiots hellbent on cutting social safety nets are accomplishing the opposite of what they claim. They are damaging the economy.

.. the poor and the middle class tend to consume a higher fraction of their income than the rich. If more money flows to these segments of society, they will consume rather than save, raising demand and spurring aggregate growth in the short run. What this means is that the poor and the middle class are key engines of growth. But with inequality on the rise, those engines are stalling.

Because with my plan... everything stops... payments and collections... the stock market, profit and loss, everything.

The 30 days simply don't exist.

The $1000 is to pay delivery people to bring you food.

There are lots of details.

really any good reason, i.e., if schools shut down and kids aren't getting food that they normally get at school, they need money for food. To that point it's a great idea.

But I would also want to do it responsibly. Sending me money, for example, would not make sense, as I am retired, and live off a combination of my retirement account, plus social security - so I am not out of any income due to the virus. Also, there should be some sort of cut off so we aren't sending money to the wealthy.
