General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHas anyone else gotten their Census "invitation?"
Just got mine and had a few observations. First, the letter opens with an "invitation to respond to the 2020 Census" and then near the end it says the "the census is so important that your response is required by law." So much for this being an "invitation." Second, the census is using the internet to "securely collect your information." "Securely," I have my doubts given the general incompetence of this administration. Thirdly, the letter requires a response by April 1. April 1st, if memory serves, is April Fools' Day. And lastly, since today is March 13, you know, the harbinger of bad luck that is Friday the 13th, we are only given 2 1/2 weeks to respond. So, what can go wrong???
Anyway, I hope all of you out there stay safe and healthy.

All their descendants are American.

(2,252 posts)That was the only way to complete it. It wouldn't allow you to go foward. Call me a boy scout, but I gave our names. Shoudl have said something like Wile E. Coyote or something.

You put in code given to you in mailing. Assume that the system then knows your physical address.
Confirm address and if you rent or own.
Who lives there.
Their names, ethnicity (including qualifying geographic location, I just said Western European), birthdates, relationship to one another, and if they live in the household full time or part time.
That's it from what I recall. Very quick.

If you dont respond they will send you a mail in form in 2-3 weeks.
And I have never answered their ethnicity question. First form I ever had was in college in 1980. Under ethnicity I answered American.

(2,375 posts)In the past I have refused to answer some of the questions, and never heard back about it.
Mostly I just gave my name and how many people lived in the house.
