Just like Bush, who had ample warning, including the PDB "Bin Laden determined to strike in US", Trump chose to ignore, play golf, tweet, and do everything except respond to keep the American people safe when the warning of "Coronavirus determined to strike in US" was given to him. What is it about Republicans? With Reagan it was the years of ignoring the HIV/AIDS crisis. So many lives could have been saved but these soulless bastards have no humanity in them.
I think Trump can already kiss re-election goodbye. A huge number of people will abandon him because this virus has already touched all of his supporters in some way and it is only going to get worse. Unfortunately I think some of them will only see the light when it's directly in their faces. And his incompetence and stupidity simply means that he will only make it worse for himself.
I have a very tough question. If the promise of no prosecutions for past crimes for him and his family would guarantee Trump and Pence would resign, would you be on board? I think we all know his actions are driven almost singularly by his desire to avoid going to prison. So what if that was out of the equation? As much as I want to see him and his family behind bars, I would rather have a competent leader in office to see us through this unprecedented crisis we face. I don't like our chances with this clown running the show. What say you?

(11,605 posts)Bush was reelected (or elected, if you prefer) after 9/11. His approval rating hit the 70's or 80's in the immediate aftermath. I'd much rather this be Trump's Katrina.
