General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhere do you anticipate we will be two weeks from now?
In regards to the level of infection of the corona virus?
Will the numbers be declining and mostly contained?
Or will the numbers be growing out of control?
Is the truth of the matter that no one knows? Much will depend on the degree of testing. If there are not sufficient tests, we cannot know the true seriousness of the crisis.
What do your instincts say as to where we may be two weeks from now?

(7,627 posts)some states are just starting to have drive-thru testing centers. As we finally ramp testing up, the numbers will go up the roof.
in two weeks from now, the whole country will start to shutdown like italy and now spain.

(1,849 posts)There are so many variables.
Take care of yourself, take care of your loved ones, and dont become a statistic.
As i pointed out in another thread, there is so much about public hygiene that we are being forced to pay attention to now, but these practices should probably have been normal all along, and should hold on after this is over.

That's what I anticipate.

(26,260 posts)There are no reported positive test results in my county, as of yet, but I'm still pretty much self-isolating. My only must do, out of the house, next week is to drop off my taxes. And if I can get a family member to pick them up and deliver them for me, I will be most grateful.

(146,288 posts)is still not widespread. So far, all of the cases have been travel related. I'm not sure how prevalent infections with the virus is out in the general population. I have no idea, really, and neither do the health authorities.
I'm shopping during slow hours and rarely. I'm following hand hygiene practices carefully, and avoiding contact as much as possible.
We'll see how all that works before too long, I imagine.

(13,582 posts)Our local Winco here in Idaho is usually 24/7 but closed from midnight to 5 a.m. today. I was there when they opened, but it's not unusual for me to shop at that hour. I was planning on making earlier for awhile, but it sounds like that will be the normal hours for now.
I'd say it was about three times as busy as usual. They got slammed yesterday, but I didn't see much totally wiped out.

No guesswork involved.

(17,536 posts)I don't have a crystal ball and have no previous experience with a pandemic. I think the situation will fall somewhere between gloom and doom and no problem.
On a personal level, I have prepared as well as I know how. My wife and I plan to isolate ourselves and can do it for at least six weeks. My middle aged son, who I am very close to, owns a service business that he is continuing to run as long as practical. He lives on the property adjacent to us and we generally spend a lot of time together. We have had the conversation about keeping physical difference. He is completely on board with the plan. His needs as a young man are different from his gray haired old parents.
Once you have made a plan, based upon the best information available, and execute your plan to the best of your ability, you can forgive yourself if things go bad. I do not have the ability to carry around unlimited amount anxiety, so I intend to watch what is happening in the world and hope for the best. (I already voted in Florida, that is the important thing for now. )
I had also planned on voting in Alabama and Georgia which are nearby, but I will forgo it until the general elections.
