Let's petition MSNBC to hire Dan Rather to fill Chris Matthews slot until the end of the year---he can have fellow Texan Willie Nelson on for his first show and have a ratings bonanza for the station----betcha he would steal a lot of the Fox audience too----a lot of them were fans when he reported the best news --

Rather & Guests, or whatever they might call it, would attract and hold an audience. Good programming idea. Good for ratings and their TV business, too.

(1,060 posts)there is a considerable segment of Trump;s base that will listen to Rather because they were once a part of his audience---- his is a voice of reason without the vitriol of the FOX news presenters------

(1,060 posts)none have mentioned his age---Tarc---try to think of the upside here---I'm only talking for this year ---up util the election anyway---and he could then join into Election night coverage and sharing with the highly respected Bob Schiefer who is 83 ----I am 74 ---have always voted Dem from a family of Dems -----I can see Rather capturing some of Fox's audience -----I don't think Matthews was doing that----maybe you could help me gettig this idea off the ground?
