That means those folks all contracted the virus about two weeks back, likely at Mardi Gras gatherings or maybe Ash Wednesday. Heaven knows how many others were exposed then. COVID-19 numbers are probably about to explode across the central Gulf Coast.

3. Not just New Orleans

There are casinos an hour east of NOLA, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Mardi Gras is also celebrated there.

Two hours east of NOLA, Mobile, Alabama has America's second largest Mardi Gras festivities. A COVID-19 case was confirmed on Saturday, March 14 in Baldwin County, just on the eastern side of Mobile Bay and the outer portion of the Mobile Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The Mobile MSA is roughly one half the size of NOLA's.
