About toilet paper...

Apparently, it was invented in the 6th century by the Chinese. It never became popular in the West until the 1800s, when some patents were issued.

So, what did we do without TP?

Many things are a bit icky to talk about, but we have had cotton cloth for a long time. Terrycloth.

When I have bouts of diarrhea from certain meds, I have this huge stack of washcloths sitting there. The come in handy for kitchen and other spills, too, and I hardly use paper towels at all any more. Even good as potholders and other things...

I stock up when I see a display of a pack of a dozen washcloths or hand towels for a couple of bucks. They get dirty, and I throw them in the wash, with plenty of bleach.

Another problem solved.

Use two red corncobs, then use a white cob to see if you needed another red one.

From wash cloth to handling all the gross body fluid stuff and you can bleach the crap out of them but they also wash out well and easily rinse clean in the back country or on the road don't take long to dry. You can find them in a grocery store, a gas station... nearly anywhere and they're usually cheap.

But I learned their versatility when I was on the road 24/7 for months at a time. Any detail could be too graphic so I will leave it to your imagination as to where I learned to clean them in a pinch!

Where I live, it would need to be heated water. The temp of the water here is such that any dental issues will become known immediately when you try to drink it. I think I wouldn't want to have to wait for the warm water to get through the pipes from the water heater in the other room to my toilet.

Just asking, I might consider it but the thought of really cold water... yeah, no.

So the water has a chance to warm up a bit sitting in the line before having to use it. But we've found that even cold water isn't bad and we live in Upper Michigan where the water temp. coming into the house is 36 degrees (I just measured it).

Hell, the different companies are probably running 24/7 now. In a week
or so it'll be back on the shelves again. Half of the country has a big
supply already, so demand will taper off.
