St Patrick's Day is Tuesday, quarantine and closures for public health are going to hurt slot of businesses, but spreading viruses will hurt as well

3. I wonder why just Southie specifically.

The parade is cancelled. Maybe they expect people to end up going to bars on St. Pats day anyway, but that will happen anywhere in the city. There are tons of Irish pubs all over Boston. The hardcore St. Pats Day revellers are going to find a way to get tanked one way or another.

4. southie is the quintessential irish neighborhood and a magnet around st patties day

Its more like mardi gras week than a parade day. Apparently the area has been packed for the past few days, and city officials had enough.

If you ever wanted to get your irish on, southie around st patties day is the place to be.
