Where are the F-ing test kits? We have NO idea how many people have it now.

I'm in Vermont and I personally know people who have symptoms and their doctor is just telling them to stay home. They are saying things like "there will be more test kits, and a drive-thru test kit pickup at the hospital" key word "WILL BE". When??? we don't know.

The bottom line is they are rationing the test kits and we have NO IDEA how many people have the virus.

It is clear that at least part of the reason that there are not enough test kits is because Trump administration is/was holding them back because more positive results makes Orange man look bad.

UNFIT FOR OFFICE!

if this isn't impeachable, what is? he is causing sickness and death of americans for his own political gain.

at this point there should be an abundance of test kits and people showing symptoms should be tested! DUH! WTF!

UNFIT FOR OFFICE.

About 15 years ago and after years of sinus infections, missed work, doctor visits, etc., I started using one. Used it everyday for a couple of months and then only when necessary.

For me, it was a complete change in my quality of life.

And yes, boil the water first or use distilled.

are of the opinion that test kits are basically useless for treatment / prevention on an outpatient basis -- even if we had enough. A negative test doesn't guarantee your negative, and a positive test doesn't change treatment.

The only reason for doing them on an inpatient basis is to protect staff -- your treatment isn't going to change signficantly.

Where testing is absolutely vital is trying to contain an outbreak -- contact tracing, etc. but all the doctors I know have said that's not going to happen and have moved to a treatment / mitigation strategy. They expect 40-70% of the US population to get sick with it, its just a matter of making sure it doesn't all happen this week.

i'm not suggesting that the test kit is going to help my friend get better.

but the test kit would indicate if he hast it or not, and then if he does, we would all be figuring out when we were near him, how he got it, if other people should be quarantined, and less people would end up getting sick or dying.

the reason we need test kits is not because it is going to help with treatment.

it is to prevent spreading the disease.

it is obvious, if we know who has it and who doesn't we can take some steps to reduce exposure to others.

anyone suggesting that we don't need test kits or they are useless, is totally wrong.

The test kits were needed 4 or 6 or 8 weeks ago.

Testing at this point is more or less useless.

They want everyone to self isolate for 3 to 4 months to flatten the curve (everyone will catch this virus, but if only, say, 10% get it at a time... and if only 15% of those are really sick, then the health care system will try to save those... and the death rate will be under 1%. Maybe.)

Everyone gets it... or the lucky few (hopefully the more at risk older people) don't get it and then the vaccine is here and things go back to normal.

Of course, in countries where the medical systems are not the best... the pandemic will run it's course and maybe 10% of the people die (some places in Africa, for example).

This is the near sociopathic thinking going on in various governments... which they will deny.

Lots of people I know right now, me included, have sniffles, sore throats, dry coughs, minor fevers, etc. Because we can’t get tested, we don’t know what we have, and don’t know if we’re safe for other people.

In Pittsburgh, the word is that we’re getting some kind of a testing center soon, but we’ll need a doctor’s referral plus approval from some kind of disease specialist to get tested.

it will be even harder to get one. They don't want to pay for them, so they just won't provide them. States need to stop waiting for permission and just deal with it themselves at this point. Of course states like mine (GA) are not going to do squat, so until and unless I drop dead from this I will never know what that low grade stuffy sinus and fever thing was really all about. Some of us don't want to infect others in the same household. Eventually we are all going to have to walk out of doors again, and without testing we won't know who still has it and how long it hangs around viably in the body after recovery.

"Well, just assume you've been exposed, it's not important that you get a test..." Nonono. Data is crucial all up and down the line in learning as much about this virus as we possibly can. I personally think everyone needs to be tested at least once at some point.

In other words, I hear you. I am so in agreement re how frustrating this is.

and intermittent low grade fevers for a full week. There is no way in HELL that he could ever get tested for it. And his 80 year old grandmother usually shares a bed with him.

She started getting some symptoms a couple of days ago, with a little coughing and intermittent low grade fevers. She seems to be all better today, so fingers crossed.

We've been joking that she's our coronavirus test kit. Gallows humor.

Trump, the liar in chief and his liar VP have been saying for days the tests are coming.

I posted why they are late; because the pharmacies want their grubby hands on this massive money-making test kit.

The Western world citizens have been stabbed in the back by their leaders all for the financial gain of the pharmacies.

We have got it the worst because we have an ignorant whore in the White House.

It was inevitable that Trump's utter stupidity and loathsome corruption would cause massive damage and now that is coming true.

depending on the source. That period is when the virus is multiplying inside the body and can spread undetected to others, directly or indirectly, without any symptoms in the transmitter. So those who will show symptoms in one to three weeks are getting infected now.

I want to express zero confidence in the WH on all matters and I put that propaganda in the same category as Russia's use of conspiracy theories to further its agenda. Neither is a reliable or accurate source of information concerning critical threats or emergencies.

I think that the information coming out of the WH has been demonstrably misleading, inaccurate and, in that case it is counterproductive and potentially very dangerous to our collective health, safety, economy and personal well being.

I prefer to seek advice from adult professionals who know what they are talking about and are not required to bow to and brown nose an obese titular head who is often seen in a red hat and Depends spouting things you might often hear in a crack house or a psychiatric ward.

There are reliable sources, but certainly not there at the sycophant station where job one is pleasing a deluded tyrant. I wasn't born yesterday, as they say.
