Just watched Dr. Fauci on MTP: He is a useless toady.

At least in that interview.

I guess he's done good work in the past, but now he's just echoing the Trump party line.

I have zero confidence in that guy.

I'm really glad that they had the IL gov on right after him to call him out on his bullshit!

Doctor Fauci is a toady. If you listened to him testifying to Congress he was very honest. Trump can not fire him, but I noticed he left the stage when the Doctor was announced.

But then I never believed for a minute that VP Biden was senile, either! He is sharp, knows his facts, is a classy fit man.

I think he continues to straddle that line because if he doesn't and Trump somehow fires or sidelines him, there will be even fewer experts in this administration to tell us the truth about the virus.

He's trying his best to keep President Pandemic from jumping off a cliff and taking America with him. I expect him to occasionally say some lame stuff.

He also doesn't want to create a panic. We are there, despite his taking the hard edges off the messaging.

I did see him say these three things within minutes:

That the mortality rate for Covid-19 looks to be about 2%.

That the mortality rate for the flu is about .1%.

And then he said that the Covid-19 mortality is 10 times greater the regular flu.

The numbers that Fauci provided indicates that Covid-19's mortality rate appears to be 20 times higher. I imagine that Trump leaned on him, requesting he low-ball the number, providing only the lowest number of his estimate. I'm guessing he would have liked to have said 10-20 times greatest. Trump probably prevailed on him to give the lower number with an argument about not panicingthe public.

He is not a bumbling idiot. He is knowledgeable. Yet he is still working there inside the gates of hell, explaining reality to demons. The reality based community needs him to stay put. He is making sacrifices where necessary, but getting the truth injected into a group thati s angered by it.

Dr. Fauci's colleagues know his fine reputation and will know what to think of his performance. His world-class expertise and superb reputation are why we're hearing about him and Trump will see him. I'm guessing most of his colleagues are very glad they're not in his position.
