I went shopping at 3 local stores yesterday, all corned beef was sold out by noon. My part Irish wife is pissed.
No shortage of cabbage though. None of them were true Irish.

Corned beef was on sale last week. With people doing mad shopping in prep for social distancing a lot of things flew off the shelves.

(15,793 posts)Im sure they ordered some earlier before ban and now stuck with the corn beef. Theyd probably appreciate the business. Delivery on St. Patricks Day a plus.

At Xmas, my favorate grocery ran out of pecans. Guess everyone was making the same cookies. Shortage of pre-made graham cracker crusts at Thanksgiving.
Enjoy your St. Paddy's dinners. Probably not a good time to hit the bars, though - if they're still open in your area.

(46,705 posts)As I've been told several times by the Irish in Ireland, if they had corn-beef available to eat they wouldn't have starved due to crops of blighted potato.

(42,282 posts)It's Irish bacon that is the older tradition. Our ancestors were introduced to corned beef here in the States (Lower East Side, if the folklore is true) and exported it back to Ireland.
But if you boil it, add some Guinness
