Fresh air and sunshine (while maintaining social distancing) are healthy strategies, and I want to support the local restaurants who are now open only for takeout.

(34,072 posts)I went to the local starbucks to get coffee on the way home.
Normally I only go there during January when I have my January mug, but I'd gotten to be friendly with the staff during January and when my daughter lost her job due to EarthFare closing I was able to leverage that into networking so now my daughter works there.
I figured I'd buy coffee more frequently (and then tip 100%, which puts the money directly in the hands of the employees).
But the shift lead who was there comped my coffee after a medium length conversation about how they are managing with the constant changes. I guess I'll just have to go back again today.
So - in case you didn't know the tips at Starbucks are split among all workers on a pro-rata share based on their hours. In her first week, my daughter earned about $1 more per hour from tips. They also have declared this a catastrophe, so if workers need to stay home they will receive catastrophe pay.
