Can't imagine any US corporations doing this. They are all sociopaths.

LYNN TWP., Pa. - The spread of coronavirus has businesses across the country and world taking action or closing, but one in Lehigh County is making a unique move.
Eight Oaks Farm Distillery in Lynn Township said in a social media post Sunday it has immediately shifted all crews and resources to making hand sanitizer and cleaning products.
The company hopes to have it available for its customers and the community within the next week or so, the post said. That means no cocktails or samples will be served in the Tasting Room, but it will be open for bottle sales. The distillery also said it's looking at delivery options for spirits.
The move comes as hand sanitizer and cleaning products sold out at stores nationwide.

(51,660 posts)They went from making lipstick to bullet casings in not time. Most manufacturing was able to do this. People adapted, women went into the factories, kids collected rubber, tin and metal, etc. We CAN change if we have decent leadership like FDR and not a fucking moron.

(9,660 posts)My mom and dad were two of those people. I have no doubt how they would have handled this. They lived through the Depression and World War II. There wasn't anything they couldn't do.

(51,660 posts)Remember when most people could fix their own cars, do household electrical, plumbing, construction, and cook from scratch? They were also financially more responsible and saved money, counted pennies and didn't waste or throw perfectly good stuff out.

(9,660 posts)And they raised their daughter to be exactly the same way. And I know you know that because your parents did the exact same thing for you.
( Besides the fact that we've actually discussed this before. Lol?)
They sure were made of tough stuff! It's too bad they are just about gone.

(51,660 posts)They were the voice of reason. I chose not to have kids so couldn't pass their wisdom on but I taught my 1st graders stuff that other teachers and their parents never taught them...like how to save money, value things and take care of their stuff to make it last longer as well as voting and the democratic process.

(9,660 posts)My Dad ran his own business. He had a service station. He was the best mechanic you could ever want to know. And he employed many young men over the years, usually of high school age.
After he retired, my dad took up golf. And he spent as much time on the golf course as he had at his business. (which means a lot.) LOL.
Not only did he play golf, he became a marshall on the golf course that was adjacent to where he lived.
One day while he was 'working' on the golf course, a man in his thirties approached him. And he asked my dad if he was Bob (last name will not be announced for privacy reasons.) And my dad said yes, I am Bob.
This young man introduced himself to my father and said, 'you probably won't remember me, but I worked for you many years ago. And you taught me every life skill I will ever know. I wouldn't be the man I am today if I hadn't worked for you. Thank you for everything.' It turns out this man was now a firefighter. I think that's one of the most proud moments of my Dad's life. (I am getting choked up as I am telling this story.)
Believe me, when you instill good things in people, no matter their age, it sticks.

(9,660 posts)I have to give a shout out to my mom because she worked right beside my dad. So did I. So did my brother. It was a family business.
I miss them so much, but I'm glad they aren't here to have to go through this. They made it into their 90s, and they really didn't have many health problems until the very end of their lives. I wish everybody could have the kind of parents I did.
Edited to add: I'm adopted. So I really and truly hit the jackpot. My birth parents, (who were not married to each other,) between them they had 11 marriages. MY parents were married almost 66 years.

(1,494 posts)If we are all supposed to practice extra cautionary personal hygiene and wipe down surfaces, etc. the government should be supplying this to EVERYONE for free. How the f*ck are you supposed to do this when the a) the stores can't keep cleaners in stock and b) it's practically becoming unaffordable.

(5,805 posts)gotta stymie any hint of a competent Federal government getting credit for helping the citizenry, so he can continue dodging taxes and eviscerating regulations.
He's spent decades working to destroy the Federal government. Some dead peasants are a small price to pay to ensure his dream comes to fruition.
I'm sure 666koch666 bots installed in the WH are putting the kibosh on any centralized, effective Federal action. Of course, with the moron in the White House, their work is much easier.

(6,960 posts)But it's so often true that the ones who can afford it best are too often the last to help - if they ever do. So I don't mean that to discount the genuineness of the action. Quite the contrary. (And,, yes, it is good business also.)
