I had a video conference with a scientist in Italy this morning.

She was working from home.

We were discussing drug development for drugs not involved in Covid-19, but for other physiological conditions, a project on which she had been working for many years.

Nonetheless we did of course, not only discuss the project on which we were working, but also discussed the situation there with respect to Covid.

She said it is really, really, really, really bad and she warned us, me and another scientist in another part of this country that we are probably where they were two or three weeks ago.

It was kind of scary. Like everyone, I'm trying to be careful, but I am going to work, and feel that I must do so. At times like this, I am very appreciative of my industry.

We do care.

are too self absorbed or think they are immune to take care of the health of others. They are the carriers and the media should be shaming them and their irresponsible attitude. Just look at the crowds in FL on vacation. I certainly would not want to be flying on a plane with them.

This is their equivalent of yelling out the window "I'm mad as hell and I'm going to take it any longer."

She's doing a good job of beating them up on-line. I'll leave it to her to report her buds.

He graduates from college next month and I’m sure his ceremony will be cancelled and we will be unable to fly across country.

He’s more selfless than me on that.

...I really don't understand how it is that every damned thing has to end up with bashing "these kids today..."

I am very impressed with this upcoming generation. They are smart; they work like hell; and we're giving them, as a result of our unrestrained consumerism, a severely damaged world.

We have nothing to say to them about distractability. They are decidedly not a generation whose defining cry was "Sex! Drugs! ...and Rock and Roll."

As a "boomer" I wish we had been 1/10th as remarkable as these kids. The world would be cleaner and far more sustainable.

You know who is the avatar of their generation?: Malala.

You know who is the avatar of our generation?: Trump.

God bless those kids. We have failed to give them what they were owed as human beings.

We probably wouldn't be closing schools, restaurants, etc, now, if not for Italy.
