The futures are a total joke. Don't even look at them. You can't have a bull market at 3:30 a.m. and have it end by 7 a.m.

(4,465 posts)Of course I dont stay up and watch the futures and possible differences between 3:30 AM and 7 AM.
I do find them pretty predictive in how the trading goes.

(3,696 posts)I checked the futures after midnight. I think Dow futures were up over 600 points and the headline was that stocks were poised to make a huge jump and recover a big chunk of the losses on Monday. At some point the futures turned flat and now at 6:48 EST they are back to +365. These are unusual times. We've never had a 3000 point drop in the Dow on a single day. Who knows what will happen today. Trump would be wise to shut up when the market has a good day because you can be sure more bad days are coming.

There is also some odd stuff going on. Did anyone else notice on Thursday that there were 5 or 6 cruiseline stocks that were all up by the EXACT SAME percentage in the futures? In the CNN futures screen, they were all at the top of the list of stocks moving pre-market and they were all up by 25 point something percent. And the point something was the same for all of them.
Someone tried to prop them up. And did it very ham-handedly.
