Nope, no Irish here. My grandfather's sister commissioned a respectable genealogy that proved it. Which was bullshit.

My wife has an Irish Catholic ancestor who fled both English and U.S.A. authority, two steps ahead of the hangman.

My wife's Irish ancestors didn't become respectable until her grandfather joined the Royal Canadian Air Force to fight the Nazis.

My grandfather joined the U.S.A. Army Air Corp, later to fight Nazis, for no other reason that he was obsessed with airplanes and wanted to get the hell out of Wyoming.

I too have have come across some who look down on the Irish. It's their loss.
The Irish side of my family settled in Baltimore. There is lots of Irish pride there.
