Chuck Pierces son was concerned, like a lot of other people looking out on a world of ransacked grocery stores and canceled sports seasons and eerie lines of people standing six feet apart from one another. So he asked his dad: Is this the end of the world?
Thats a question you can ask when you have a dad who calls himself an apostolic prophet and leads a prophetic ministry. No, said Pierce, who is based in Corinth, Tex. The Lords shown me through 2026, so I know this isnt the end of time.
The worldwide upheaval caused by the fast-spreading novel coronavirus pandemic has many people reaching for their Bibles, and some starting to wonder: Could this be a sign of the apocalypse?
It sure might feel apocalyptic. But not if you ask Christian writers and pastors who have spent years focusing their message on the Book of Revelation the New Testaments final book. It lays out a lurid, poetic vision of the End Times, in which many evangelical leaders interpret it to mean that Jesus will return to Earth, believers will be raptured to heaven and those left behind will suffer seven dreadful years of calamities. Most of these Revelation-focused prophesiers dont see coronavirus as heralding the Second Coming and the end of life on Earth as we know it.

(6,070 posts)For as long as I can remember, the world was about to end just any day now. I'm just mildly amused by peole who think it might end, but I'm scared by people who think it's their duty to help it happen. They should take out their death wish on themselves and leave the rest of us out of it.

(11,736 posts)Revelation was written about the Roman Empire by a guy who was high on ethylene gas.
Plus, if the idiots read their sacred text, they are explicitly commanded not to try to guess about the return of Christ but just to be good to each other in preparation for that event.

Who the fuck cares what these assholes think?
This country has been self-medicating with magical thinking, manufactured substance-free images and wishful bullshit for decades, and what has it gotten us as reality kicks down the front door?
A bunch of ambulatory Thoughts And Prayers (TM) Pez dispensers like Trump, Pence, DeVos and Redfield, who couldn't manage a fucking laundromat.
