My cousin is presumptive positive, have a colleague in

quarantine, and my wife has dry cough, fatigue, sore throat, and chest pain but no or very low fever.

Three different states. You know what the common denominator is? NONE of them can get tests. ALL are asked to quarantine per physician.

This is where Trump screwed us.

I doubt if either my cousin or wife have it, BUT both have symptoms, both have had secondary exposure, and both WOULD be tested were this not fucked up.

Anyone with symptoms who tests negative for flu should immediately be tested for COVID-19. We can't do that.

Its the linchpin. The most basic information we cant get.
My best friend works in urgent care. Was ill, tested positive for the flu. Luckily. My daughter is self quarantined. Mild symptoms but cant test.

But also said test would take three to four days. Perhaps she was tested and awaiting results? Confirmation? I assumed it meant she was waiting test.

The stats include all of the presumptive positive tests.

As more areas across the United States report new confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease, the phrase "presumptive positive" has caused confusion for some readers.

According to the Center for Disease Control, a presumptive positive result is when a patient has tested positive by a local public health laboratory, but those results are still pending confirmation at a CDC lab.

So the 3-4 days is likely the time for the CDC to confirm it.

I assumed the doctor was just screening based on symptoms and negative for influenza. I guess I did not realize she had taken a non-official test

Guess my hunch was wrong.

It's weird how many people I know/acquainted that are currently under quarantine or similar. We have less than 100 confirmed cases in our area but I know two people (one our CFO) who have been asked to self quarantine due to exposures to confirmed positive results.

My colleague was down in Louisiana and Florida and came back sick. Based on where she traveled they automatically quarantined her.

manufacture anti-bodies which will recognize the invader and kill it.
so...do the usual things, plenty of good nutrition, vitamins, sleep 9 hours,
drink only warm drinks (hot tea with lemon & ginger is best),
avoid alcohol, gargle with warm salt water,
hot soups with chicken and veggies are good.
covid-19 will be killed off by the body's defenses with proper steps.

She is sick in bed with a fever, sore throat, cough and tightness in her chest. She is not high risk so she won't be tested. Those who are high risk should get a test, but most aren't. People on the front lines of exposure like healthcare workers and those working in crucial industries should get a test. Everyone should get a test at this point, especially if they're exhibiting symptoms. The doctor told her to behave as if it were the flu. No quarantine instructions. Nothing. She also lost her job, so there's that, and is putting herself through what will be online college now with no income. I feel for you, and I'm sorry.

tonight. I tried to talk her into waiting until tomorrow when she could see her doctor, but she was frightened and would have called EMS if I didn't take her. She had vertigo. Turns out she had a UTI.

I hated every minute of it. I hated that she would have used EMS. I hated her using the emergency department when others were there with chest pain, or fever, or really bad coughs. She kept commenting on the coughing, and I'm mentioning, "yeah, there are really sick people here." And I'm wondering if I'll need to come back next week for myself.

The hospital:
Set up a triage of patient and visitor in the airlock. Our temps were taken right away as they gave us soft face masks. Then we were questioned about travelling outside the US and if we had been around anyone traveling internationally.

Everyone wore a mask at all times. I could not leave her room in the ED except when radiology came in. They were really good at keeping us all away from each other. No evidence of tests being available.

I don't know why I wrote this in your thread.

...just spent the better part of two weeks in lockdown because a couple a few doors down from me became ill after a visit from a friend from Norway, who had traveled extensively throughout Europe and Mexico. It took DAYS and a persistent, insistent effort from them and others for them to get tested for COVID-19. They were initially told they didn't qualify for the test because they couldn't identify a known carrier. Never mind the fact that the husband was exhibiting classic symptoms of COVID-19, and never mind the fact that the husband had just gotten over the flu (the chances of him getting another flu were next to none they were told) but they didn't qualify because of the shit-for-brains CDC regulations put in place to make it next to impossible to get a test, because Trump wanted to keep the numbers low or it might affect his fucking re-election chances..... After they finally got the test, it took another four days before they got the results.

We are all so very relieved that their tests were negative, but this kind of delay in getting tests is prevalent throughout the country, and there is no excuse for it. NONE. The WHO offered tests in January, and Trump turned them down. (Oh, but remember, he told us just today he knew it was a pandemic before anyone.) Nurses are having to go begging to him in his office tomorrow so that they can get the protective gear they need. WHY? We are a failed stated because of a lack of leadership.

November can't come soon enough....
