Sanofi offers anti-malaria Plaquenil to treat 300,000 patientsThe French laboratory Sanofi has said it is ready to offer the French authorities millions of doses of the anti-malarial Plaquenil, which can potentially treat 300,000 patients, after tests deemed "promising" in patients with Covid-19.
In view of a study with encouraging results carried out on this molecule, "Sanofi undertakes to make its treatment available to France and to offer several million doses which could make it possible to treat 300,000 patients", indicated to the AFP Tuesday a spokesperson for the laboratory, while specifying that the group is ready to work with French health authorities "to confirm these results".

(9,244 posts)Except for himself and the billionaires and CEOs, while he tries to figure out a way to profit from it, buy the company, or get Jared into business with it so he can profit from it or some such.
Then when he finds he can't make some smarmy deal, he'll let only certain people have it, while pretending that it's scarce and thus must be rationed, and the sickest and oldest should just die while the richest, whitest and youngest get the vaccine.
Would you put this past the evil maggot? I wouldn't.

Whether slime like Barr would pursue prosecution is a fair question, though.

(34,109 posts)Had to use an eye chart every morning, there was something about that drug that messed with your eyesight and if it was off you had to stop taking it and go to the eye doctor. It was so long ago I can barely remember except I remember doing the chart every morning.
I remember no other problems with it and the plus was that everyone in my diving group had to take anti malarial drugs before we left on our trips but I was already covered.

(46,166 posts)My husband takes it for arthritis. His prescribing doctor is a leading rheumatologist. He told us that the formula for the med has been tweaked and no instances of the eye issue has occurred since then. I'm not sure when the formula changed, though.
If you have any thoughts about this please pm me. You're a primary source of information, imo. Husband has his eyes checked for problems every six months since is doctor is generally cautious and vigilant. One of a kind, really.
Thanks again for your reply.

(12,631 posts)going 2x a year for the red light field of vision test, and being told that my eyes were fine. Then I had to see a new ophthalmologist, and she said I had eye damage. So I stopped the Plaqunil. It didnt seem to make any difference in my lupus, nor have I had any noticeable issues with the damage. That ophthalmologist says I still have eye damage; my old ophthalmologist says he sees nothing. The new ophthalmologist has since revealed herself to be somewhat lacking in common sense, but she she has excellent credentials, so who really knows? Best wishes to your husband and you.
