Did a quick run to Publix (huge grocery chain here in the southeast) this morning. This particular store is their most productive — and it was packed. With customers. Essentials? Not so much. Empty shelves in many sections.
And they just announced they’re offering early hours on Tuesdays and Wednesday’s for seniors. But, if the shelves are still empty then, why bother?

They won't be able to fill everything, but they'll put out whatever gets delivered.

service is now 5 days out for a time slot. Then two Fridays ago corporate cancelled home delivery service.

Publix is more expensive. They have no customer cards, perks, customer card specials, etc. But they on two trips they had pretty much what I sought after. Yesterday tho no ground meat of any kind. Butcher just came out with meat on a rack to put in bins and I snagged some filet mignon. Providential and timely! Shoppers started to congregate around him. Meat showcase empty. Fish--there were some crab legs plus. Sheesh.

I feel for these people the grocery and other necessary store staff.

All in all tho everyone shopping and store associates were pleasant and polite. The young lad bagging rolled out my cart, put the bags in the cargo and I gave him a $10 tip. It says on a badge label on his shirt "no tipping". I said don't fuss with me! I blessed him with "stay safe and healthy".
