Lindsey Graham urging Trump not to send direct payments to Americans as part of coronavirus relief

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is reportedly hoping that President Donald Trump will take a trickle down approach to the next coronavirus relief bill.

During a Republican lunch on Thursday, Graham encouraged his colleagues not to support direct payments to Americans in what’s known as “phase 3” of the package. Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) — the new White House chief of staff — was in attendance at the event.

The White House has proposed sending $1,000 to each American adult and $500 for each child. Under the proposal, the checks would go out in two tranches.

By trickledown, is that bailing big and small businesses first and trusting that money filters into the hands of workers?

Yeah. Fat chance.

Why does Gatham's instincts always run counter to logical thinking?

Consumers would be voting directly with their dollars. More of those dollars go directly to stimulating the economy, because most people are not in a position to save. Graham doesn’t want this because he’d rather play favorites with his corporate donor fat cats.

supposed to send to the RNC to support R candidates. Did not pay a lot of attention to this junk mail. In fact, threw it away at the post office. But I wonder why he can send me a check for $45 to send to the RNC but he won't agree to send checks to human beings!
