Friend of mine works at the Dallas Police Department

They said they are prepping for something big; all available officers on the ground, around the clock starting Monday. There is an unprecedented amount of equipment going through detail checks. They're expecting and preparing in case of "looting and rioting" in parts of the city because the city is going to be put on "hard lock down". They don't want to make the preparations public because it may give people ideas. That's all she was willing/able to tell me.

I figured most people here aren't the rioting and looting type, and it felt too big not to share somewhere.

She works in the DPD, in an area that is affected by the ramp up. She's not able to say anything publicly, but told me because we are close (not going to disclose nature of relationship). I'm putting it here because I have a certain degree of anonymity through DU in public posts, and it protects who she is.

You don't have to believe what I've passed along. I'm not interested in debating it. I don't have anything to debate with past what she told me. It was a post just to inform what is going on.

(Also, I have to pass on the vodka, I'm diabetic. And whiskey was my drink of choice when I could indulge. Thanks though.)

No longer responding on this chain.

And I mean that. There is a significant percentage of police officers in this country who are convinced the public at large is their enemy, and they cant fucking wait to knock the living shit out of desperate people whose only crime will be trying to stay alive.

Never forget the actual, true, violent origins of the police departments in the United States.

They are NOT the friend of the public. Not by a long shot.

I am making the assumption you are female and the cop in question was male, because that seems to be the overwhelming trend.

There was a story a few years back here in NE Florida about a cop who had a violent history with harming his wife and eventually killed her, but the other members of his force so incredibly botched the response and followup because they were so preoccupied with protecting their own instead of properly investigating a homicide, that he walked.

I have absolutely ZERO respect for law enforcement in this country anymore. NONE.

They are an armed gang of thugs that can literately get away with murder, rape and theft, and do so on a daily basis. If it wasn't for the advent of smart phones and video cameras in almost everyone's hands, we wouldn't have the first iota of how widespread police wrongdoing truly is.

A public panic and/or massive public unrest is exactly what they can and will gear up for. I will not be in the least surprised if the shit really hits the fan, we hear of a major metropolitan police force shooting live rounds into a crowd.

It can and will happen if things go that far south.

Or are you female as well?

Either way, I'm very glad to hear you are away from a dangerous person.

Please, please stay safe, and I hope you have found a caring, loving, PEACEFUL person to share your life with.

There is no doubt women can be abusive and violent as well. I was in a relationship with such a woman in fact. She wasn't necessarily violent, but sure as hell was abusive.

Anyway...glad you're away from that situation.

You'd think they'd want to clean equipment.

And the Gov just shut down
Schools and restaurants today.

Maybe they are just planning ahead.
I mean the Plaza last week was a ghost
town.

Are they worried about looting if business
aren't occupied?

There were several stories on the 5 o'clock news today about break-ins at restaurants. Weirdly, most of them were BBQ places.

Looting is expected in some big cities because so many businesses are closed.

I have no words to express my loathing for those who would take advantage of a national disaster to steal TVs, sneakers, clothes etc. And I have no doubt it’s going to happen.
