'Number of people' on life support with coronavirus, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer says

"LANSING, MI -- During an interview Thursday, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said there are multiple coronavirus COVID-19 patients near death.

“There’s not an age group that isn’t susceptible,” she said during a conversation with Christy McDonald of One Detroit. "We’ve had a 5-year-old in Michigan test positive for COVID-19.

“We’ve lost three people and there are a number of people that are on life support as we speak.”

Michigan had 334 confirmed cases of coronavirus as of Thursday morning, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported.

Whitmer discussed a variety of topics during her interview with One Detroit, but didn’t provide many definitive answers, citing the quickly changing situation.

"Are there going to be any more executive orders in the next couple of days that might restrict our movement even further ... " McDonald asked.

Whitmer said she’s issued a number of “aggressive” executive orders, including a three-week closure of schools, as well as bars, restaurants, casinos and other businesses through March 30.

“But I also know that if we don’t take this aggressive action, that this community spread will threaten more lives in Michigan,” she said. " ... These actions that we’ve taken, as things evolve and as things change so quickly, there may be necessity for additional actions ... and I would anticipate that there will be additional actions but I’m not going to announce anything at this moment."

Get ready Michiganders, a "Stay In Place" order is coming, soon. Thank goodness, we are at the acceptance point of the Five Stages of Grief. Others have a long way to go.

that stay in place is not happening anytime soon. Not sure how sustainable that is in the long term, however.

Wayne/Oakland/Macomb counties, in particular. 75 of the 119 cases, in Wayne County, are in the City of Detroit.

No surprise. These are probably the most densely populated counties in the entire state. Most other counties are in single digits, except for Washtenaw, which boarders Wayne.

Of course, we still need to get the current batch of tests back, for other areas of the state.

The one piece of info that might be helpful, but I understand they are too busy to 'carve out', is how many cases involve hospitalizations and how many are able to quarantine themselves at home.

Otherwise, people in S.E. Michigan will flock to their vacation homes up north, and the UP impacting all of those areas, if they are not impacted all ready as tests are running slow.

I'm all set for a stay in place order. Fortunately, I have a big yard so I can get out for fresh air. I find that really clears my head and reduces my stress, for a while. Since stress suppresses the immune system, keeping it low is my main priority, right now.

There's no doubt it is spread far wider than we see on that 'incident' map that mlive has on their page. We will likely never know how many people contracted it, but were either asymptomatic, or the virus didn't develop into the disease, and they treated it like a cold.

It is now being said that the Virus has been around since January 2020. How many people had it, may have had mild symptoms and are carriers but asymptomatic at this time. How many people had what they deem are "strange flu" or "strange stomach flu" symptoms that could have been COVID-19 and now feel fine but could be carrying the virus.

At this time, I wonder if me and my spouse are the latter as we had symptoms we thought was a food poisoning with a mild fever that lasted 3-5 days. I got it first after attending a dinner conference, then my husband literally had the same thing the next day. Thought it was strange that he could "catch" my food poisoning symptoms when he did not attend the dinner -- and have the same symptoms (fever, severe stomach upset and pain) but did not attend the dinner. My spouse said three people at his job, had the same thing happen later, within the week.

Now we are wondering....

Maybe a slight fever - not enough for me to bother finding the thermometer. No extreme fatigue, no aches and pains, and my sinuses were draining through my nasal passages. A WHOLE lot. I kept an eye on it because, at one time, I was prone to developing some significant bronchial infections. It hung on for a while, and I still have the occasional cough and sneeze but that is easing up, too. I do that whole 'hold your breath for 10 seconds to see if it causes difficulty, pain or makes me cough' test. It doesn't.

So, who knows...... I am glad that I pretty much isolated myself when it first started. I canceled family dinners, and kept my distance when I did have to encounter people.

I do a whole lot to keep my immune system as robust as possible, so I also tend to get past the few virus attacks I get, pretty quickly. When I developed Shingles, I breezed through it with minimal pain, blisters and discomfort. It was about a month of inconvenience, start to finish, with absolutely no residual scarring. (The blistering was right at mid rib-cage so going braless, as often as possible, was essential.)

And, yes, now I'm wondering if what I developed, in February, was actually a common cold.

Regularity take Black Seed Oil and Turmeric. Both are designed to keep the bodies immune system up. Does not know if that helped if that is what we had, as in COVID-19 and do not believe either is a complete protection for the virus but IF we had it this could be why we did not experience the worse impacts.

I use lots of spices, like cloves, pepper, cinnamon, coriander and cardamon. It really is lovely.

I'm going to check out Black Seed Oil!!

But after that, it's a breeze. It can also be mixed with food, it that helps.
