(456 posts)Presidents are remember for their words of encouragement during tough times. This is what is expected from them, this is what we need. That question opened a door to make a great statement. Even his handlers should have trained him to expect such a question.
So I think that was response was pre-arranged to invoke that the "Press" is the enemy. That we should believe Trump not the Press.
It was for his followers, so he doesn't lose any (more) support. It was all about his reelection.
