Trump is betting on Zero
If you know Roulette, then you know that the typical wheel is split between red numbers and black numbers. But there are those real long shot green numbers.
It has finally gotten through his thick skull that there are very few good outcomes on this virus. A good leader would be decisive about mitigating the challenges and work towards the least bad solution.
So here are the options.
We can bet on RED which is to let the virus run its course and kill millions of Americans.
We can bet on BLACK which is to isolate our way into an economic Depression
Or we can bet on GREEN which is to hope for a cure. It is a long shot but it is the only possible winning bet for him.
To be fair, an effective treatment would be a game changer. A therapy that drastically changed the mortality and severity of the illness would suddenly let us get back to a semblance of normality while the vaccine was being developed. But understand that it is a longshot and would likely only improve outcomes and not be a cure.
A true leader would be preparing for some form of Red or Black while pressing for every possible avenue to Green. Instead, he has bet everything on zero.
