Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe undisclosed costs of Trump's total failure to do his job cannot really be measured by numbers.
How does one measure the cost to a grandparent of not being able to hug a grandchild? How about if they don't live long enough to hold a newborn grandchild?
How many high school kids have been robbed of their prom? Their trip to the state basketball tournament? Their graduation in front of family and friends?
What is the cost of being unable to be married in a church or synagogue crowded with two proud families?
How do you compensate someone for having to bury a wife or father or child without sitting Shiva or having a wake? How do we measure the pain that riding to the cemetery alone adds to grief?
Then there's simply the toll that prolonged isolation---the awful "aloneness"---takes on our well-being. No friendly beer at the neighborhood pub. No cup of Joe with the regulars at your favorite coffee shop. No church. No school programs. No Fourth of July picnics orThanksgiving dinners or Christmas Eves with the family.
Those are just a few of the irreplaceable pieces of our lives that Donald Trump's incompetence and narcissism have robbed from us. I, for one, will never forgive him.

The cost will be measured. A lot is immeasurable. The intangibles you cite are actually the underpinnings of our GDP.
Sure, we're hurt. Millions will remember -- long after the time it takes to do the accounting of costs -- who did all this to them.

(22,756 posts)of a thousand hot suns... I believe trump is a monster, he is vile and he is unequivocally unqualified to be president, let alone take on a major crisis...
that being said, the spread of the Covid-19 virus and the necessity of quarantine and isolation could possibly have happened under any circumstance... I believe if this had been handled properly there surely would be less devastation but it would still be here
I can never forgive trump for many, many things and his bungling of the Covid-19 crisis is just one
