I’m very impression by Cuoumo’s updates. As a Californian, I have to ask — where the heck is Newsome. Other than the stay at home directive, I have seen much of him.

He closed all the “non life-sustaining” businesses on Thursday and we haven’t heard two more words from him.

We had a life-sustaining veterinary appointment that we made in January. Cancelled. Dammit.

And why in world are the State Stores closed? They could manage those with gloves! Let people wait in their cars, take a number, and the clerk will come to the door and hand them their booze.

He is giving nightly Facebook live news conferences with up to date information. He even is taking live phone calls from Californians and answering them live. He is doing a great job!

Governor Newsom has done an excellent job. California is calm, and I notice that the reported cases from here are not high, relatively speaking and all things considered.

Anything can happen, and it does seem that folks are predicting this upcoming week is going to be tough all over. Let's see and pray, if you do that. But I feel safe with Gavin Newsom (or Andrew Cuomo), but definitely not with the Idiot in our White House.

14. The networks seem to want to

televise Cuomo's addresses but not other governors. Why? I can't say but I suspect they have decided to choose one to show the nation what leadership should look like. Inslee and Newsome are both doing outstanding work for their states but it is not getting much attention. Cuomo is getting to Trump.

He will do daily briefings starting Monday. He is working in conjunction with the house and senate dems to get out the messaging they want to see out there. At least they will all be working together to show how a dem presidency will work.

24. Being ignored by the east coast-based media

as usual. California started working on protective and preventive measures before New York did, so we're not seeing (yet) the spike in cases that the East Coast is. Moreover, cities and counties are playing a more active role - my town has been in daily communication with residents.

Cuomo's literally just up the road from the big Manhattan-based media centers, and like people everywhere they go for the more local stories. As we've seen countless times before, it takes a major disaster in California to get their attention, and even then it's barely adequate.

They have a smaller per capita infection rate than, say, Utah.
