Listen Media Hacks - Don the Con did not sign the Defense Production Act

That was signed in fucking 1950. He claimed to have invoked it and that too is a lie. Not one company has been ordered to produce a damned thing. Hi corporate friends volunteering to make stuff is not invoking the Act. That allows them to enrich themselves.

Tell the people the truth for fuck sake.

Then the next day he said he invoked it. Both are lies - bullshit. People are dying while they profit off this madness.

Passed by both chambers as part of a defense reauthorization act and signed by Trump last year. Nobody noticed. Still, it happened.

If he hadn't signed that, it wouldn't be law. Notice that what was reauthorized is, really, mostly 3 of the titles in the Act out of the original 7. So if you cite the original Act, be careful--I, III, and, if I remember correctly, VII are mostly intact. (Most of the lapses that occurred took place years ago.)

Moreover, he also issued an EO that declares that the DPA's requirements have been met and delegating authority under it's terms (on 3/18). The Act requires certain preconditions be met. That met them for some provisions in the Act. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-prioritizing-allocating-health-medical-resources-respond-spread-covid-19/

On 3/20 he directed the HHS secretary to issue certain orders.

Some things I've seen demanded he do under the DPA's provisions are no longer in it. Others have strictures placed on their use, notice to Congress, issuing certain finding, Congressional authorization. Some demands how a lack of understanding of what it entails. Mostly it's good for compelling acceptance of contracts, reprioritizing output, ensuring the supply of raw materials if there's a lack, and if there's a demonstrated shortfall in production ensuring that equipment is procured or produced to meet that shortfall. So far most valid demands have consisted of, "Don't ask--dictate!" With ill will doing most of the assuming.

I don't think this is the first time Trump's used the DPA, either.

IT IS ALREADY TOO LATE

drumpf is supposed to be a business man who understands construction. if that were true he would know that ventilators, masks, etc don't just start rolling off assembly lines the minute he says "go". Manufacturers need to make parts, and other parties need to assemble those parts. WE SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS TWO MONTHS AGO. We are WEEKS away from new companies being able to assemble ventilators.
