Multiple administration sources have expressed concerns that the tight coronavirus restrictions are tanking the economy and are anxious to get the country back to business. These officials worry they went too far in allowing public health experts to set policy.-w/ @PeterAlexander
They are eyeing the expiration of the 15-day Stop the Spread CDC guidelines as a possible pivot point eager to restart the economy. Pence signaled as much yesterday, saying the CDC will issue new guidance today allowing some essential personnel to return to work sooner.
An administration official tells me Trump was cautioned early on against setting expectations that after two weeks, the country would return to normal. Based on some of his tweets and public comments, he appears to be dismissing that. - w/ @PeterAlexander

Tensions brewing inside the White House over economic consequences of coronavirus response

<snip>
Public health officials have pushed the White House to urge Americans to stay at home in an effort to blunt the spread of the virus and "flatten the curve" of the number of new cases. Officials in Italy were slow to isolate affected regions and limit movement, leading to one of the world's worst outbreak so far.
There is hope that the expiration next Monday of the administrations "15 Days to Slow the Spread" guidelines, which urge people to stay at home if they are older, feeling sick or who have been in contact with someone infected, could serve as a light at the end of the tunnel and possible pivot point to restart the economy.
Trumps frustrations spilled into public overnight, tweeting, in all caps that WE CANNOT LET THE CURSE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO.
He later retweeted a series of supporters Monday, who appeared concerned about his re-election prospects given the potential long-term impact of this crisis: "After 15 days are over the world can begin to heal," one retweet read.

As long as Liz Warren is alive,this Stench will be front and center during her days on earth. And Bush and Cheney thought it was bad.

(182,777 posts)The CDC is about to gutted by resignations Id guess.
Trump is throwing a hissyfit because he screwed up and he knows and everyone knows it. He adds to it everyday with what he THOUGHT would be great the best daily free air time. He also is enraged at the understandably rave reviews Gov. Cuomo is getting.
Hes a child who got caught lying to cover up another act and its all coming crashing down on him.

(18,770 posts)...despite becoming significant hot zones, like FL and LA. I've read that the Marti Gras was likely a super spreader event. And they never closed the beaches in FL. Take a look at the map on FL's official website:

Sadly, this is going to run through the red states like a buzzsaw.

(14,959 posts)cannot be directly waived off by the federal government. Trump will have to try to threaten, blackmail, etc governors, county officials, mayors, etc. It might work on a few GrOPer governors, but I suspect most local officials are going to react to their local situation, over any pronouncement from Der Dotardfuhrer or his minions.

(17,003 posts)against him will create a storm that will leave him shouting into the wind. All those GOP Govs want to be re-elected and when their constituents start dying by the 1,000s they will turn on him.
