Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsMcConnell set this entire scenario in place by not negotiating with Democrats in the first place.
He set it all up to squeeze the Democrats.
They wrote the entire bill without any input from Democrats.
Now it's 'we have a bill and the Democrats are blocking it'.
Ms. Pelosi & Mr. Schumer have seen this bullshit before.
McConnell is a poisonous snake.

One would think a virus killing people including their own family members likely would get them to stop being the really bad people they are, but nope.

(875 posts)They want to make everyone think that trump wants to give them thousands of dollars and the Democrats are blocking it. Now they can take it away and not accept responsibility.

(111,087 posts)After he got together with the White House and Republicans, with no Democrats invited, to scheme a way to give $500 billion dollars to corporate friends with no strings attached and in anonymity. They did not want anyone to know who they were giving the money to. What an asshole!

(82,849 posts)We saw the exact same thing play out during the meltdown of 2008. Just before the election, troubled banks submitted a "Pay up or else the economy gets it" ultimatum. The Republicans were totally ready to open the Treasury doors to the looters, but Democrats stopped them. Better (though decidedly imperfect) legislation was soon forthcoming from the new Obama administration. After seeing what the irresponsible captains of industry did with that relief and with the tax cuts of 2017, Democrats have caught on to the scheme, and they aren't willing to just hand over taxpayer dollars to entities that don't pay taxes without any preconditions.

Well said.
It's funny because Republicans and their paid shills in the media are the first to holler about "free stuff" when Democrats want to implement social programs to help the poor and disadvantaged lead better lives, but when there's an opportunity to print money for rich corporate donors they holler "Whooopeeeeee!"

(16,254 posts)Do they even write them anymore? That never should have been allowed. The senators/reps are being paid to write them, not some highly paid employee of corporations/special interests.
Pelosi should be coming on pretty soon with the Democrats' bill.
McConnell is evil and that covers all the bad things you can think of.
