Sounds like a threat to me.

But it's an empty threat. United SHOULD lay folks off if they don't have the business to support keeping them. And the gov't will provide unemployment benefits to those layed off. That's how this is supposed to work!

Too many of these big corporations are just parasites that funnel the money to execs and boards. Need more money going to those who actually produce.

Sen Schumer was speaking about 4 months of full pay UI the other day. If the 2020 recession goes longer than that and a majority of people cannot find a job, I expect the Democrats will extend the benefits further. We are going into known territory, again.

They stuff their pockets with the company's money and then when the company hits a rough spot, there's no savings to keep the company afloat. But that's okay, the government will come along and bail the company out. These parasites are 100 times worse than any Cadillac-driving, fur-clad welfare queen.

I learned a long time ago in business -- don't threaten if you're not prepared to back it up. Is he bluffing? Let's find out.

Let United downsize to a level that their finances will allow as to survive. Isn't that what Capitalism is all about?

The laid off people will have to collect unemployment like the rest of America.

That's what happens when your too aggressive with your balance sheet and free cash flow.

Sorry.

No?

Didnt fucking think so.

The way to stabilize the economy and best deal with the pandemic is to 100% shut down the securities markets and, if money is inserted into corporations, the taxpayers take equity positions with the corporations.

Otherwise the effort of bailout $$$ will be abused just like in 2008-2009.

for systemic fraud and also building death trap planes.

Or just let it fail completely and still toss that lot in prison. Whatever makes the most long-term sense.

But the current board and all involved in the past fraud must go to prison. The line simply must be drawn somewhere and this seems like a good place. I would still love to see the vast majority of the heads of the mega banks locked up too. The US is utterly out of control at the top of pyramid. The entire American economy has been turned into a giant wealth extraction scheme for the top .01% and .001%, at damn near EVERY level.

2015 (I am sure it is much higher now with renitier raper Rump at the helm) figures

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-soi/soi-a-ints-id1801.pdf

The rising fortunes of the top 1 percent of income-earners in the U.S. is drawing attention to questions of income inequality and fairness. But what is the exact financial threshold to be counted as a member of that group?

Answer: Individuals must have adjusted gross income of at least $480,930 per year, according to the IRS. Although the top 1 percent are relatively small in number -- just 1.4 million out of the nation's 141 million taxpayers -- they paid 39 percent of the country's total federal income tax, the agency said in a new report (The data is based on tax returns for 2015, the most recent year cited in the report.)

That dollar figure marks the minimum income to be counted among the top 1 percent, though most people in that category earn are more -- average annual income is $1.48 million. But that's a pittance compared with the fortunes of the top 0.01 and 0.001 percent, with average annual incomes of $35.1 million and $152 million, respectively.
