I have always tried to be tolerant and just ignore the comments of those who I know to be republicans or what is in today’s world called conservatives, but I have had it up to and beyond my eyeballs with all of them.

And when they post something on Facebook or in an email or in a conversation I will indeed reply and it will not be at all charitable.

I just got a snide “humorous” email about liberals from my brother yesterday. We don’t usually talk politics. It made me cry, because he doesn’t see that such a thing is just spreading hate toward his own sisters.

Created by some asshole, spread it around by snarky people, unaware they are being used to divide the country into little pieces.

We are seeing the effect of 30 or so years of far right Media.....enabled by Reagan in 1987.

Studies have shown that constant consumption of that propoganda changes their brains.

Changed them to the extent they will slurp up whatever vile crap their Cretin Idol spews out.

It does not matter one bit that trump lied.... they KNEW he was probably lying at the time, because they know he ALWAYS lies.

Lying with them is a method, it's also a device within the method, so when he lied that was not something to be later condemned if proven to be false, but something to be applauded for sticking with the program.

It's hard to avoid the obvious conclusion, with the caveat that if the difference between stupidity and ignorance is that ignorance is curable, then willful ignorance is indistinguishable from stupidity.

"No, the coronavirus won't become a pandemic. Not at all"

Here is what actually happened on January 22:

[link:https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/17/trump-dissed-coronavirus-pandemic-worry-now-claims-he-warned-about-it.html|]

President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday he has believed the coronavirus outbreak was “a pandemic, long before it was called a pandemic” — but in January, he explicitly played down concerns when asked about it.

“No, not at all,” Trump told CNBC in a Jan. 22 interview on CNBC when “Squawk Box” co-host Joe Kernen asked him if there were worries about an outbreak of the novel coronavirus in China becoming a “pandemic.”

“It’s going to be just fine,” Trump assured Kernen during the interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

“We have it totally under control.”

Trump’s revisionist claim to the contrary on Tuesday came as he discussed aggressive measures to stem the progress of a pandemic that has rocked financial markets and led to widespread restrictions in the United States on travel, schools, restaurants, theaters, shopping centers and other gathering places.

The idea is the same, but quotation marks should really be used for exact quotations.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Several months before the coronavirus pandemic began, the Trump administration eliminated a key American public health position in Beijing intended to help detect disease outbreaks in China, Reuters has learned.

snip

The American disease expert, a medical epidemiologist embedded in China’s disease control agency, left her post in July, according to four sources with knowledge of the issue. The first cases of the new coronavirus may have emerged as early as November, and as cases exploded, the Trump administration in February chastised China for censoring information about the outbreak and keeping U.S. experts from entering the country to help.

“It was heartbreaking to watch,” said Bao-Ping Zhu, a Chinese American who served in that role, which was funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, between 2007 and 2011. “If someone had been there, public health officials and governments across the world could have moved much faster.”

snip

In a statement to Reuters before the report was published, the CDC said the elimination of the adviser position did not hinder Washington’s ability to get information and “had absolutely nothing to do with CDC not learning of cases in China earlier.”

So I know.

I mostly avoid politics with him - but recently I figured out that he was totally downplaying the coronavirus and partly because of this -he encouraged my parents (in their 90s) to stay 1000 miles away from their kids (in their 60s) - because there was no reason to really worry (in his mind).

It may be just as well that my parents are not being visited by us all. But there are a lot of problems with this, as well. There are many nightmare scenarios I can envision.

This is one of the biggest concrete problems I have noticed from his views. There have been many others that affected his family (wife, children and grandchildren).
