Coronavirus: France deaths hit 1,100 (2500 on life support) as another 743 die in Italy

Italy has also recorded its second-highest number of coronavirus deaths in a day.

France has become the fifth country to report more than 1,000 coronavirus-related deaths - as another 743 people died from the disease in Italy.

The death toll in France stands at 1,100, compared with 860 deaths yesterday - an increase of 240.

A French public health official also said there are 2,516 people needing life support.

and it's not just that they have an older-than-average population. It seems that as many as half of the deaths were the result of the effects of both the viral pneumonia caused by cv, and opportunistic bacterial pneumonia that set in when the person was already weakened by the virus. It was speculated that this is happening in Italy in particular because for some time Italy has had a problem with antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria, which of course are present in hospitals. This is being investigated. In the meantime it might not be a bad idea for older people to get their bacterial pneumonia vaccinations, just in case this does turn out to be a factor.

a horror show like Italy. So maybe they can start that treatment.
