Coronavirus cases are rising faster in states that voted for Trump: Nate Silver

The novel coronavirus, not being sentient and knowing nothing about human ways, has no political affiliation and doesn’t discriminate between Democrats and Republicans as it spreads across the country.

However, according to statistical expert Nate Silver, the data so far indicate that the virus is spreading more readily in states that voted for President Donald Trump.

Florida is too predictable. We need to sue the shit out of the Chamber of Commerce for meddling into a public health issue. And of course, as the cases rise, Ron De Santis's political career will come to an end. He will be remembered as the Angel of Death.

I have two nursing friends who were huge trumpers, wearing the merch to work and everything. Not anymore. They are fucking pissed at what's happening.

The virus doesn't know politics but if politicians don't take the correct actions, their constituents will suffer no matter what party the belong to.

WA, CA, NY were natural points of entry because of prominent international airports and high populations. We (I live in WA) responded quickly, and we may actually get out of this earlier than most everyone else because of that. Red States are taking their lead from Trump, and in general have not taken this seriously. Older populations, poorer health care, and a greater tendency to congregate are all likely going to embed Covid19 into the cultures there permanently.

I'm fully expecting that Trump will do everything he can delay aid to the blue states then will be generous to the red ones. It's consistent with his MO.

...blue states out of vindictiveness, not caring that MANY Republicans live there, too. He's thinking, on average, he'll kill more Dems than Repubs. He hasn't the depth of the empathy to realize how much he'll be reviled for this holocaust.

The states that support him are getting hit with the unintended consequences of him whining about it being not being serious for nearly two months. People are going to die there and its going to be his fault. He'll then up the amount of stuff he sends there and it wont solve anything because it'll be too late. People are going to die in the states that didn't support him because he's going to keep needed material and personnel support away for too long.

I know in the west we use karma as a synonym for poetic justice. But that's not this.

it's not just that people who live in cities are more likely to be Democrats as well as more likely to be the early cases of being exposed to the coronavirus, it's also that the concept of karma is that your actions have and impact on your future fortunes. That's not at all what happens with the coronavirus and covid-19.

Somebody's actions and words don't just endanger themselves. Being stupid about social distancing and hygiene protocols won't just get you sick. You get your parents sick, and increase the chance of them dying. You get your neighbor sick, your grocery clerk, your gardener, people who ride in the elevator with at work, the Uber driver who comes to take you to the hospital, and the nurses and doctors who care for you while you recover. You get them sick too... and you might just kill them.

Don't call it karma. It's not poetic justice. It's profound irresponsibility. It's disrupting or destroying innocent lives and making our country weaker. There's nothing balanced or cosmically corrective about spreading this disease

Stupid vs science? The hands down winner is always going to be science. Trump's loyal fans are about to face a deadly conclusion, the corona virus doesn't watch Faux News, never attended one of Trump's cult rallys or listened to rightwing hate radio.
