One does feel a wee bit sorry for the miscreants

We are in proper lock down. Police stopping us to question our choices about being outside and fining those who have no good reason - a sparse list of reasons indeed. The government has put together a massive package of socialist intervention - hehe - to ensure that workers, business and the self employed have some income protection during this time, including mortgage relief and a ban on evicting renters for the next three months. But what if you are a naughty person? What of the burglars who cannot burgle when everyone is at home? What of the muggers who cannot mug when no-one is on the streets? I should not feel sorry for them, but I do a wee bit. I mean on one level it is bloody marvellous that their criminal endeavours are being curtailed, but on another level, they can hardly claim that they are self employed and get government relief. And so when all communities have to pull together, what about them? Even if they are thieving little shits they need to live. Many years ago I sat and chatted with some muggers (long story) and they told me that going out mugging was their wages from a society that had given up on them. Ethically flawed, but it has a logic. For those who earn their 'wages' this way, their 'logic' will not put up with this lock down for long. What happens then is anyone's guess.
