And so - the first global disaster in the age of short attention span theater

Corona virus doesn't use twitter - isn't limited in character use. Doesn't flick through 15 second videos. Doesn't get bored when it is not mentally stimulated by something new and different every 5 minutes.

This sort of thing is a true test of whether humanity can slow down again, critically think, explore the past for clues of the future, do real risk assessments, triage effectively, and be patient once a course of action is chosen. People are being asked to do things they've not done in a long time - or never done. Slow down, think of the implications of their actions, care and share.

it is coming at a really bad time, because very few of us as a species can do those things very well.

We have the failed business buffoon as our "leader" - and businesses are notoriously bad at using data, planning, and doing what is best for the most. Businesses are typically focused on pleasing shareholders.

Right now, trump has his cult as his stakeholders. He has no attention span. He has no patience - empathy - intellect - curiosity.

Watching this play out is and will be something to behold. Shame that it isn't just a B movie - but real life and death situations we are all players in.

No politician can decide when this is over - unless they want to cover up the numbers. Or actually say and do things that are helpful, not bullshit or harmful.
