Went to the city grocery store today. Hardly any house brands

I ask and was told that the warehouses are full, but no short haul drivers. Plenty of name brand like coco cola and Pepsi and wonder bread etc, those people deliver and stock their own.

Plenty of Purina cat and dog food, but none of the house brand.

No big price increases on name brand, that is good.

Gonna be expensive until the short haul company drivers can get back to work.

but they are staffed to make 1 or 2 deliveries a week to restock 10% of the stores inventory.

Now they have to restock 40%.

Simple matter of capacity.

blew up as the result of panic buying. Auto refill Computerized Systems just simply blew a fuse and once the System is reset manually, things will even out.

from one of the Major Retailers Store Manager was,the Auto Restock System went down because of the volume of panic sales. Many items went to Discontinued status because of the scanned sales numbers were way out of the presets in their reorder system.

And the Warehouse to Store Schedule is set for Maximum use of order selectors as well as Loaders and Delivery Drivers. It just takes time to clean up the back log orders as well as deliveries . You can put everyone one mandatory overtime and overlap your shift schedules just so much before the system comes to a screaming halt. And overlapping Receiving and Shipping works for only a few hours then the Congestion stops everything in it's tracks.

Again, you can throw only so many bodies at that problem before thinks go straight to heck and back.
