Trump Says He Told Pence to Ignore Governors in Hard-Hit Areas If They Are 'Not Appreciative'

Shortly after the U.S. death toll from the coronavirus pandemic reached 1,500 on Friday, President Donald Trump took to the podium at a White House press briefing and complained that certain state’s governors are not “appreciative” enough of the federal government’s help—so much so that he said he’d told Vice President Mike Pence, the leader of the coronavirus task force, to skip calling governors of some hard-hit areas.

Trump singled out the Democratic leaders of Washington and Michigan, noting that he had advised Pence not to call them as the healthcare crisis plagues their states and people fall sick and die.

“He calls all the governors,” Trump said. “I tell him, I mean, I'm a different type of person. I say Mike, don't call the governor of Washington, you're wasting your time with him. Don't call the woman in Michigan.”

“If they don't treat you right, I don't call,” Trump said.

Michigan’s health department is reporting 3,657 COVID-19 cases and 92 deaths. In Washington, there have been 3,700 cases, according to the state, and 175 deaths.

What bugs me most though is no one calls him on this garbage. They let him say stuff like this and then he walks away and nothing happens. No outcry. The reporter who asked the question should have lost his shit with that answer. So what if he doesn't invite you back...lose your shit on national tv and let the world see this creep for what he is, a monster.

Anger does nothing...we are finished. This creep is going to sink the ship and escape to his island with all the rich repugs...

You're assuming the Grotesque Orange Pustule is human.

Let me suggest:

The Dictionary of Demons: Names of the Damned

The Dictionary of Demons starts with a simple premise: names have power. In medieval and Renaissance Europe, it was believed that speaking a demon's true name could summon it, compel it, and bind it.

Occult scholar Michelle Belanger has compiled the most complete compendium of demonic names available anywhere, using both notorious and obscure sources from the Western grimoiric tradition. Presented alphabetically from Aariel to Zynextyur, more than 1,500 demons are introduced, explored, and cross-referenced by theme and elemental or planetary correspondence. This meticulously researched reference work features fascinating short articles on demonology and a wealth of woodcuts, etchings, and paintings depicting demons through the ages.

We just need to find the thing's real name and somebody who knows how to "compel it, and bind it".

Many years ago a man stopped when my car broke down, and started "helping me". He got closer and more menacing. Then he looked at me and said "all I need is for you to be nice to me". Luckily I was able to get in the car and lock it. And luckily it was daytime and there were other cars on the street.

I was naive, so naive about the evil in the world. I'll never forget his menacing, threatening demeanor. When I hear of women describe Trump's sexual assault I think of this incident. When I hear about how he speaks about these Governors, I think of evil.

He will flood the Red States with supplies and equipment to fight the Coronavirus. Then say see, the ReThug governors took care of business and made out fine with few deaths. But the Blue State governors had many many more deaths because they are bad executive managers and their populations suffered so much more.

I actually hope and assume that Pence isn’t going to carry out these orders. He may be GOP but he’s not actively evil. He knows that they are anti-American and wrong, and if that’s not motivation enough, he may just ignore them in hopes of saving Trump from himself.

But just in case, it would be a good idea for the governors on Trump’s enemies list to record any phone calls.

I can't seem to find my copy of Voltaire, but I remember this story I read many years ago. A wise emperor heard that one of the rulers in a land under his control was lording it over his subjects, bullying and insulting them, and demanding constant praise and appreciation.

The wise emperor sent a team of special ambassadors to the viceroy with the strict command that precisely prescribed elaborate ceremonial honors were to be paid to this guy. The viceroy at first was overjoyed, but he soon changed his mind. On the emperor's command, the honors team surrounded this guy in his bed at 5 am every morning, and he wasn't allowed to get up or eat breakfast until he had listened for two hours to elaborate and exaggerated paeons of praise and flattery about him. Then, just as lunch was about to be served, they surrounded him and launched another two-hour praise/flattery service, as his lunch grew cold on the serving cart. And again, just as his dinner was about to be served, they surrounded him for another praise/flattery ceremony. In addition, three of them followed him all day long. Whenever he was about to speak, one said, "He's sure to be right!" As he was speaking, a second said, "He is right!" After he spoke, a third said, "He's always right!" In the end of the story, the viceroy eventually sent a message to his emperor, abjecting begging to have the praise/flattery treatment ended, with a plaintive promise to change his behavior.

If only we had such an emperor.
