Slip-sliding into chaos?

It would not take much for that to happen.

We have to make sure that the virus does not overwhelm rural hospitals and that the food supply chain remains open and functioning. It may require some rationing?

Also, people will need jobs and money to survive. Half of our country has no savings beyond $400 dollars, it has been reported.

This could be a time that we need good, organized government and good leaders.

In my opinion, this is a critical time for our nation.

We need UBI and medicare 4 all. I'm disgusted that young kid died because he was rejected care for no insurance.

This is about the life and death of humanity. Anyone that thinks they are insulated, will find themselves living in the chaos of the after math of this plague.

So that means it is up to state and local government officials, and all of us in our own communities to step up wherever we can. Because we sure as hell won't be getting any help from The Orange One.

Conservatives know only government can effectively coordinate goods and services in time of crisis. Conservatives know their fellow Conservatives don’t give a shit about each other, let alone the rest of us. They line up at the government trough for their bailouts quicker than you can say, “Hypocrites”. All the “Government Bad” propaganda goes POOF when crisis hits.

A DEVIL in charge and just WOW at what he's done, now the consequences.

Short of car crash killing him, VP, Moscow Mitch, and Barr all at once?

Feeling of helplessness, yeah...

Axis of evil, indeed!

Individual states are going to need to keep it together on their own, big picture as long as this worse than useless fool is holding the federal strings.

Good Luck!

There are many variables yet to be defined in this crisis. We do have the issue of an elaborate facade about the real nature and structure of this country and its economy cracking open to reveal its vulnerabilities and huge flaws. It is certainly going to be a time of great challenges and difficulties in a collective way.

I think you hit some key points on the head kentuck, but they may be an understatement, even.

I believe that cooler heads prevail and we do need to grapple with the reality of this situation and avoid denial. It is what it is and we are each going to have tests to our view of things. If we are aware of that and expect changes and contingencies, we may be able to handle this in a proactive and more beneficial way, considering we are all facing it together.

We have seen nothing yet. We need to prepare for the worst. In my opinion, Donald Trump is the absolute worst leader we could have at this time. Unfortunately, half the country agrees with him. That is the political dilemma that faces our country.

I ran the numbers.

Heart Attacks, suicides, ulcers, all the shit you can get if you abuse alcohol, the list goes on will certainly not be going DOWN either.

Hospitals being overwhelmed will kill a lot more than the virus.

Not cute when it's you or your family, we are at 1800+ families in the USA in mourning, and very few had family comfort in that moment.

to have (hell, it may happen before that number is reached) gun nuts start shooting people who they think are a threat.
400 or so million firearms floating around out there in the ecosphere, many in quite sizable caches owned by mentally fucked up people.

I'm actually more worried about unforeseen deaths due to not even remotely close to being prepared in more rural areas with no H within even just 100 miles in any direction.

People who will be FOUND.

People without communications, even rabbit ears aint cutting it, those folks, some of which might not even be aware about what is happening still if out of the loop?

The Amish?

Other fringe groups we aint even aware of?

governors to buffer us against Trump's incompetence. Without them this will turn into a rockslide. Problem is, we are not optimally set up as a country to do this, and we are seeing that daily as he stands in front of the country making excuses.

When looking at this situation and considering I am high risk, the first thing I know I have to do to survive is "not get infected early on". For me that literally means staying out of public settings as long as we are in danger of out-stripping our health care capacity. If I am in an area where there aren't enough ventilators, and I need one, then I have accepted already that I would likely be toast. So in order to survive I simply can't allow myself to get this virus until our leaders "flatten the curve", and ultimately, isn't that what we all are really waiting on to happen first? If we flatten the curve and everyone is getting proper care then I know I still have a chance to survive an infection. If we flatten the curve it relieves the pressure on other systems and processes that are being strained by the pandemic. So no. 1 is for leaders to do a good job of assessing their overall needs for critical medical supplies, solving their logistical problems to get them, starting vital supply chains for their medical incremental needs, all while enforcing the social distancing, all to flatten that curve. I think that's going to be a spot situation for a while, so I'm in isolation until leaders do that. No choice. So are many Americans like me, and the others are all working while at risk. And most of the Governors seem to be trying, but the federal assistance that states count on has no executive leadership and either moves at snail's pace or not at all, and there is never a plan in the Trump administration until it's a reactive plan. Trump isn't capable, so unless he is replaced, this is going to largely come down to how well our governors can collaborate as a group to help each other meet their individual needs. They should probably appoint their own leader (Cuomo would be great), and maneuver in a way that they can bypass Trump to the greatest extent possible. Food supply, money, everything, my guess is they will not get what they need from Trump. They can work with Congress for funding who can take needed legislation to Trump for rubber stamping, but that is all he is good for. That, and braying daily that he is a "10".

The best thing that could be done is for Pence and the Cabinet to do what they know should be done. But absent that, it's the governors that will have to lead the nation through this and out of this.
