Trump just insinuated that New York hospitals and Cuomo lying about about mask needs - that when full before, a hospital only needed 20K, why need 300K? Well, more ER visits = more masks for providers and patients. Sick, contagious patients = masks for radiology, respiratory therapy, and other hospital workers who normally do not need them for a majority of their patients. Routine hospital patients - ulcers, most bacterial infections, cancer, post-op, etc, typically do not need masks... my head is about to explode. I fear for every healthcare provider and first responder’s safety. Not enough PPE. Period.

my daughter works in administration at a university infectious disease research department. She noticed back in January that ordering masks was becoming very difficult. So there must have been a shortage before all of this happened. If only this idiot had not disbanded the department that could have dealt with this better.

I think for a president to stand up and be so petty in regard to the people who are putting their lives in danger and working their asses off to help those who are so sick and dying shows exactly what kind of person he is. Granted here at DU we have known this all along. Now i am hoping all of America can see this.

My daughter too, my only child! My next door neighbor sewed her 10 masks! I am talking with others in the Public Health and in Medicine and Science and we are coming after Trump and his followers. The Medical and Science community is hopping mad and there will be major sustained push back until we have a government that is fact based. I am thinking that we need a massive Rebirth of the Enlightenment!!!! Think of a nationwide campaign for respect for Reason, Facts and Science!!!! ... we desperately need a prophylactic medication or blood antibodies from prior patients who are over and fought off the virus and lived. Take these human antibodies and distribute it to the various blood types in blood banks. Match up the blood types of the people who have not yet had the virus and infuse the COVID-19 antibodies into their blood.

Something is needed desperately to protect people during the interim until a vaccine is found. Health care workers and elderly with comorbidities are very much at risk of death.

Since the winter is flu season, the stuff needed for testing flu (vials, swabs, etc) were on backorder. Same stuff is used for testing for other respiratory illnesses.

It's not just tests. It's not just PPE or ventilators. It's supplies - general.
