Every time I call a business for customer service

Even before I’ve talked to a real person, they try to get me to take a “short survey” when the call is completed. Every. Damn. Time. Then I’m put on hold indefinitely.

Maybe businesses are short handed these days ..... or maybe I’m just getting short tempered from all the stress lately, but I’m getting sick of this shit!

Has happened to me three times today.

I say the same thing almost always: stop spending your money on this and hire more people/pay people better/fix your online system so it works or whatever.
Unless I have a really great person help me. That's different.

I think it's late-stage-capitalism.

there is a third possibility - experimentally they're trying to see how much delay they have till they start losing customers.

From one of these companies, I have to use them because that’s what my insurance pays for. So it’s doubtful they’ll lose me as a customer. I wish I could dump them and buy it somewhere else but I’m stuck with this one (unless I rob a bank to pay for it retail).

After someone answers you and helps you out the survey will ask how the experience was. Did you get good service. Was the person helpful, yada, yada.

It puts the employees who helped you on perpetual trial. Managers listen to the surveys and ride the employees incessantly. It all becomes jobs from cubicle hell for the employees.

It’s shitty for you but it’s a miserable job. And the fact that they put you on hold means they don’t have enough employees because their cheap ass policies are to drive their employees like slaves.

they bored us with for all those years and perhaps a lot of people (like me) complained. Some of it was so loud and/or distorted it gave me a headache.

So, their management said: "We can't allow these customers to enjoy silence while they're waiting, let's hit them with a survey!".
