JFC NO! Donnie Dollhands China travel ban was NOT a "good and very early" decision

So sick of the media playing stenographers just repeating that crap like it's actually factual.

It's like "giving him credit" for pushing back his idiotic, syphilitic "open by Easter" bullshit.

How long is the media going to grade this asspickle on a curve that makes the Coronovirus infection curve look like a ripple in a kiddy pool?

Again today, they're giving him credit for "being an asshole, but at least he's listening to the scientific evidence"

Holy EFF! Even heard that asshat Chuck Coulson say; "if you could decide between good decision with bad behavior, or bad decision with good behavior... you'd choose good decision with bad behavior"

Hey Chuck! How about we expect "Good decisions, with good behavior" from the fucking president of the United States.

Now, about that China travel ban decision. Saying it was right is like saying you decided to quit drinking and driving AFTER you've killed someone while driving in a drunken stupor.

They knew about this virus two Fucking months before he stopped flights from China. The community spread had already started.

Were planes from China met on the tarmac, passengers screened, or isolated...or were they free to make their connecting flights all over the country?

The ban itself had so many exceptions and holes in it, it was like a Melania hookers fishnet stockings at Mar A Lago.

As late as last week, passengers from overseas weren't even met with a God Damned thermometer.

Cruise ships were allowed to disembark passengers and scatter them to the wind without so much as a "hey, you feeling ok"?

I had some experience with effective pandemic response... I lived it during an eight month deployment to the west Pacific.

I was on a WESTPAC with the Navy during SARS. Our port visits were cancelled, and when they finally felt they had it under control, governments like Singapore and Hong Kong set up trailers we had to walk through single file. It measured your temperature and heart rate. If you had an issue, you got turned back to the ship.

It sucked as we just spent months doing boring figure eights in the middle of the ocean, but it was necessary and effective. This was an example of a good and "timely" response to a possible global pandemic.

He dicked this up in every possible way.

Saying he did this right is like saying; "besides all that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play"?

“There’s no restriction on Americans going back &forth,”...today, 30 planes will land in LA that either originated in Beijing or came here on one-stops, 30 in SF, 25 in NYC.

"So, unless we think that the color of the passport someone carries is a meaningful public health restriction, we have not placed a meaningful public health restriction.”

On Jan. 24, a week before restrictions, CDC confirmed 2 cases of the...virus in the US from people who had returned from Wuhan, China, where the outbreak began.

Furthermore, Klain said, the import of goods from China is exempt from the travel restrictions, “and, of course, the people who fly the planes and drive the boats that bring those goods from China. We couldn’t ban that activity. We vitally need that.

Taiwan was one of the few countries who immediately banned travels from china and it worked.

I do not think Trump even knows about USA travel ban that early, someone else made the wise decision, but it was not trump.

They Fled Coronavirus in Europe. Border Agents Asked if They’d Visited China or Iran.
Americans returning from Italy and Spain say border control officials didn’t screen them or tell them to isolate themselves.

When Pam Mundus and a friend landed in Milan for a weeklong vacation on Feb. 23, uniformed airport workers in face masks, attempting to contain the spread of the new coronavirus, took their temperatures.

But when Ms. Mundus returned home on a direct flight from Rome to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport on March 1, no one questioned her about her time in Italy or whether she might have been exposed to the illness. At that stage, the State Department had already urged Americans to reconsider travel to Italy; there were at least 1,500 cases there and 34 deaths related to the coronavirus by then.

“The only question we were asked was, ‘Have you been to China?’” Ms. Mundus, 62, said in a phone interview from her home on eastern Long Island, where she has been in self-quarantine since her return.

President Trump has claimed credit for slowing the spread of Covid-19 in the United States by imposing a ban in late January on some travelers who had recently been to China. His administration has since barred entry to travelers who have been in Iran, nearly 30 European countries and the United Kingdom.

And the restrictions applied only to foreign citizens, despite the fact that the virus could be transmitted just as easily by the many Americans returning home in droves, who were getting confusing and inconsistent messages on how to protect themselves and their communities — or in many cases, no advice at all.

“The policy makes no sense,” said Danielle Ompad, an epidemiologist at the N.Y.U. School of Public Health. “It was based on nationality, not risk of infectiousness, and the two are not synonymous.”

Josh Michaud, an associate director for global health policy at the Kaiser Family Foundation, went further last week. When Mr. Trump barred Europeans from entering the United States, he tweeted that the move “makes about as much sense as a homeowner installing a fire alarm in the living room while the kitchen is going up in flames.”

Ari Minelli, a New York City architect who cut short a trip to Spain, landed at Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday evening, but was not provided any guidance on self-monitoring or self-quarantine. Spain by then had more than 4,000 cases and had just declared a state of emergency.

Mr. Minelli, who flew home from Barcelona through London, was asked before he boarded the flight in England only if he had been to China or to Iran. But the epicenter of the outbreak had already shifted to Europe.

We could all just imagine what we would be hearing if this all were happening under Clinton or Obama. Hell, Republicans were raising holy hell about Obama's handling of the short-lived Ebola crisis and nothing had actually happened.
