Some styles call a very similar, if not identical, technique a knife hand, but it seemed to be delivered awfully high on the head.

If one had not heard this, it might surprise someone to know that the so-called "karate chop" or "judo chop" to the side of the neck is not just an old TV or movie staple. It's actually a thing, and can knock you cold if delivered properly, and not that much force is needed.
