More than half the US population is under lockdown to slow the spread of the new coronavirus, and it's unclear when states will lift those restrictions.

"It's going to be a matter of weeks. It's not going to be tomorrow and it's certainly not going to be next week," Fauci told CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday.

(16,616 posts)by telling Trump his fantasy of reopening the economy is contingent upon Trump getting testing out there across the boards. Fauci can always keep extending the 'all clear' date. Meanwhile, America might finally get the testing capacity it needs.

It's done all the time to try to make a person look stupid. Don't check out the claim, and it works. Check out the claim, and it's the claimant that looks stupid.

The main reason we have to lock down such large swaths is that we don't know who is infected, so we don't know who to quarantine.
That is why ClusterFuck's early response is so damning.

(63,840 posts)Dr. Fauci is trying to be on tRump's safe side, cause without him we will know nothing.
It's really immature to see that this virus is going to be better soon. We haven't hit the peak yet.
We still need to not to listen to tRump either, after his condemnation of health care workers.
