(10,885 posts)back to him, and you could see Chump getting edgier by the second.
"On March 4, you said..."
"Then again on March 10, you said..."
"What do you say to the people who are concerned..."
The blood was draining from Chump's face as Acosta queried.

(63,221 posts)Much appreciated! It drives me crazy when people assume that we are all glued to the television and/or to the particular channel they are on all day, every day.
Appreciate the context.

(63,221 posts)He is SUCH an asshole! He's not keeping people calm. He's denying the fact that we even have a problem and minimizing it to the point where people are not going to take it as seriously as they should.
He is a complete and utter failure as a president and a disgrace as a human being.

(160,451 posts)So much better seeing Jim Acosta. He is a real journalist.
It's funny Trump started calling reporters, starting with Yamiche Alcindor yesterday, "snarky." He just picked up a new word to use, and he won't stop. He thinks that's really going to sting, the dumb ####.
Acosta was totally honed, and the reporter following him headed right for the bogus charge of accusing hospital personnel of stealing vital supplies.
It's WONDERFUL seeing people starting to bear down on this black hole in a baggy suit.

(7,220 posts)"WHY is that a nasty question? You said it, and now you're saying something different. YOU may not take responsibility, but it's our JOB to hold you responsible."
We all know exactly what a "fair and balanced" question that would have been considered if a Democratic president had made false or misleading predictions. rump would be ripping up the twitter machine, calling for Obama's head on a pike.

(435 posts)tRump hates to be called out in his own words, he can't spin it in any other way other to attack the reporter framing the question. Jim Acosta is so much smarter than the POS we have as our current Prez.
Drive him nuts, Mr. Acosta . . !

(7,399 posts)Trump was on the best behavior he can muster today and is back in line with Fauci's scientific guidance. His scripted statements passed CNN's fact check, and he even praised the healthcare workers on the front lines which he hasn't been great about. He was well-prepared with a lot of concrete numbers as well.
As far as this crisis goes, we all want him to succeed and he's struggling. I'd like to hear questions and answers that focus on how we move forward, especially when he's more or less in the zone where we need him to be.
Obviously he couldn't have been more wrong about the 15 cases disappearing to zero early in this crisis. That statement and all the other issues he was on the wrong side of will stick with him and haunt him in November. Now is not the time to dredge it up, it simply isn't the most pressing news of the day.

(51,519 posts)This is like complaining that we shouldn't talk about gun control right after a mass shooting.
No, we need to make sure as everyone is going through their own personal hell right now that they know who made this so much worse than it had to be, who it is that probably cost their loved ones their lives.
Shermann
(7,399 posts)SunSeeker
(51,519 posts)Indeed, talking about the lies Trump is telling and told will help us address the situation. Trump's insufficiently rebutted happy talk about how everything is under control is how we got in this mess.

(53,410 posts)and crimes. So he finally gets a clue and everyone is just supposed to let it go? Do you believe in accountability? Hes a grown man who should be able to answer to the American people for putting us in such danger on nothing more than his ignorant whim. Or because he wants to get even, or because he feels slighted and criticized rightfully? People have and will die directly because of him.
What is the press for in our Democracy? It holds the unofficial title of being the Fourth Estate. Its job is the pursuit of truth and facts no matter who they need to go after. You cant just decide that because theyre embarrassing you that you can shut them up or throw them out. Especially not if youre the President of the US. Presidents dont get the privilege of having their crimes ignored. The President isnt our boss. Hes our employee.

(7,399 posts)We're at war. And as the adage goes, you go to war with the army you have, not the army you wish you had. I'd rather Biden were in there planning our next move, but Trump's our general at the moment. So it's not about skirting accountability, it's about taking a war footing.
Biden and Sanders appear to be doing this. There have been a few swipes here and there, but they aren't on the front page bashing Trump every day. Think about it.
Trump can wave his hand with the DPA and accomplish things that all the governors combined cannot.
lunatica
(53,410 posts)Theyre job is to tell us the truth. War footing or not. And if you think war is so sacred that no one should ever criticize warmongering leaders then you must believe Democracy is conveniently malleable for the sake of momentary misguided expediency.
Every President has been hounded by the press. Almost all of them took it pretty well though they were obviously uncomfortable. Except Trump who attacks and whines and gets even and bans and insults on a personal level.
If you or anyone prefers to be polite during war rhetoric by all means you, as an American who has that freedom, hold your criticism until some false moment when you allow yourself the right to criticize. Of course when the war is over what good does it do to speak out about it?
