Stage 3 Restrictions nationally. The states and the Federal Gov. seem to have a coherent and connected message. There will possibly be a stage 4, no details available yet.
10am, 31 March 2020
As agreed by National Cabinet, gatherings are now restricted to no more than 2 people except for members of your immediate household and for work or education.
Under the Stage 3 restrictions, the new directions mean that what was previously advice about staying home is now enforceable.
Playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms are now closed.
These Stage 3 restrictions came into effect at 11:59pm Monday 30 March 2020. They will be in place for 4 weeks and reviewed as required.
If people breach these directions, they face on-the-spot fines of $1,652 for individuals and $9,913 for businesses. Larger fines can also be issued through the courts.
Were also telling Victorians there are only 4 reasons to be out:
- shopping for what you need - food and essential supplies
- medical, care or compassionate needs
- exercise in compliance with the public gathering requirements
- work and study if you cant work or learn remotely
As we deal with this health crisis, we know that for many Victorians its an economic crisis as well.
Thats why a moratorium on evictions will be introduced for the next 6 months for residential and commercial tenants who are experiencing financial distress due to the impact of coronavirus. This will apply across all states and territories.
What does a maximum gathering of two people mean?
Based on the advice of Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC), all gatherings are restricted to no more than 2 people except for members of your household and for work or education purposes. Social distancing rules should also be observed.
What if I live with more than two people in my house?
This doesnt apply to people you already live with.
Does that mean Im allowed to have more than two people over to my house?
No. Victorians should be staying in their own homes.
Can I be outside with more than 2 people if they are part of my household?
Yes, if those people are part of your household. However, you should only be outside for one of the following 4 reasons:
- shopping for what you need - food and essential supplies
- medical, care or compassionate needs
- exercise in compliance with the public gathering requirements
- work and study if you cant work or learn remotely
