Dad Bans Son From House After He Partied Over Spring Break Despite Outbreak

One 21-year-old who insisted on partying for spring break despite that pesky little issue of a worldwide pandemic sweeping the nation is now getting hit with some unexpected consequences—his dad won’t let him come home.

Matt Levine is a senior at Springfield College in Massachusetts, one of the many colleges that closed up shop when the spread of COVID-19 started becoming a real threat.

Matt and his pals had planned a trip to South Padre Island, Texas for spring break—a trip his father, Peter, warned against once the suggestions of social distancing and even self-isolation became prevalent.

“I spoke with him every day and told him that maybe they should come home,” Peter told The New York Post. “I was aggravated. The news here was getting worse and worse. Matt sent me pictures of him and his friends congregating outdoors and listening to live music.”

After Matt refused to come home at his dad’s request, Peter realized he couldn’t have his son or his son’s friends stay in their house after not knowing if they had come into contact with the novel coronavirus during their trip.

“His grandparents live here,” Peter explained, “and there is no need to expose them to god knows what he had been exposed to!”

So Peter not only refused to pick Matt up from the airport, forcing the group to rent a car instead, but he also declined to let them inside the house once they arrived.

“I had filled the trunk of Matt’s car with groceries and left him an envelope containing $300 in cash,” he said.

The Dad, in all probability, financed junior's trip. Then he loaded up the car (who bought the car?) with groceries and $300 (that'll last a week or so) and they're on their own? I doubt it. They'll all crash at some other kid's house and put all of his relatives at risk. Young "adults" are all immortal at that age. What they don't think about is everyone around them who isn't "immortal".

And no new people allowed. It's horrifying to think we will probably have to do this for well over a year and not get to hug my kids.

It's a pain to wipe down packaged groceries with disinfectant each time but it must be done, or otherwise just allow to sit for a few days before use.

My mom was the sweetest person u ever knew, there was no need for her to treat me with any tough discipline etc. Doing what I was supposed to do sort of came natural.

From the article

The sports management major clearly still doesn’t understand the severity of the outbreak, as he took the time to complain to The New York Post that their trip to Texas was basically ruined — showing where his priorities lie right now.

“We were only allowed to go to the beach in small groups and couldn’t have speakers; by then, there was basically no one on the island,” he said. “The police seemed like they were trying to ruin our good time.”

It’s a similar refrain to one we’ve heard from many spring breakers at this point — everyone was out to ruin their spring break, totally nothing to do with trying to keep a disastrous disease from spreading while zoomers maniacally insist on partying through a national emergency rather than staying home for a few weekends.

That's why we send them off to war at that age.

My local town had to rope off all school playgrounds and parks to stop the young people.

Their parents couldn't keep them home, or maybe they're living out of the house with other young people. But either way, we have the young people to blame for the fast outbreak.

And they don't even vote.

All too often, one parent gives in, especially to the baby of the family.

Dad: Son, you can't come in the house and possibly infect and kill grandma.

Kid: But dad, we didn't see any of those little red spikey things floating around in Texas. I swear!

Dad: Sounds to me like you had your beer goggles on.......

they do have a responsibility to their families and they didn't take that responsibility seriously. And the Dad is right, lives are at risk, for a lot of people and these idiots are partying while the rest of their families are in fear for their lives. Idiots.
